Young Onset Dementia Support
Dementia doesn’t always happen later in life. When it affects someone earlier, it can disrupt work, relationships, parenting, independence and future plans. WellKind provides specialist support for people living with Young Onset Dementia and the families around them.
When dementia happens earlier
Everything can feel different.
Young Onset Dementia can be particularly disruptive because it may occur when someone is still working, raising children, supporting a partner, managing a mortgage, building a career, running a household, maintaining an active social life and planning for the future.
The diagnosis can affect far more than memory. It can affect work, relationships, parenting, finances, identity, independence and future plans.
Someone diagnosed at 50 or 55 may not see themselves as an “aged care” client. Our support is designed around the person they are and the life they are still living.

Support designed for younger lives
Don’t put someone’s life on hold because dementia has entered it.
YOD support can draw on the full WellKind model — personalised, age-appropriate and family-aware.
YOD family support
When dementia affects the whole family
For families dealing with YOD, the caring role can be particularly complex.
A spouse may simultaneously be a partner, a parent, a worker, a financial decision-maker and a carer. Children may also be affected by changes in their parent.
WellKind provides practical family support and coaching to help families understand what is happening and develop strategies for navigating change.
There is still a life to live, and families don’t have to navigate it alone.
